Lamayuru is often referred to as "Moonland" due to its surreal, moon-like terrain formed by eroded rock formations and barren cliffs, making it a photographer's paradise. The Lamayuru Monastery, one of the oldest and largest in Ladakh, dates back to the 10th century and belongs to the Drikung Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism.

Stretching approximately 134 kilometers (83 miles) from India to Tibet, the lake's pristine blue waters are surrounded by rugged mountains, creating a mesmerizing contrast and a surreal landscape.

ROUTE & REACH

 

Getting to Pangong Tso is an adventure in itself, involving a scenic drive from Leh. The journey covers approximately 160 kilometers (99 miles) and takes around 5-6 hours. Due to the high altitude, it’s important to stay hydrated

Khardungla

Elevation of approximately 5,359 meters (17,582 feet)

Khardung La, one of the highest motorable passes in the world, stands as a gateway to the majestic Nubra Valley and Shyok Valley in Ladakh. Travelers are advised to acclimatize in Leh for a few days before attempting the ascent to Khardung La due to the high altitude

Umlingla

Elevation of approximately 5,883 meters (19,300 feet)

Umling La, the highest motorable pass in the world, stands as a testament to human endurance and engineering prowess. Located in the remote region of eastern Ladakh. Proper acclimatization in Leh and Hanle is crucial to avoid severe altitude sickness.
